After a yearlong battle with lung cancer, David passed away at his home in Sisters, Oregon with his family by his side, he was 68. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he also leaves behind his numismatic legacy. Born in Pasadena, California to Dorothy and David Griffiths, he grew up in Monrovia, California. In business since 1961, he was a second-generation professional coin dealer. The Los Angeles native ran Century Stamp and Coin beginning in 1968, on the corner of 7th and Olive, while raising his first two children with Barbara Lundgren in Arcadia, CA. In 2001 he began Bedrock Gold and Silver Inc. He later remarried Pamela Dhanjah and had two more children, Amanda, 6 and Travis, 4. Over the last 25 years he has been committed to and worked a 12 step program. David is survived by his wife Pamela Griffiths, children Shelley Rodriguez, Todd, Amanda and Travis Griffiths, grandchildren A.J. and Kevin Rodriguez, Paige, Taylor and Aidan Griffiths. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 12/14/10 at 11:30am at Live Oak Mortuary, 200 E. Duarte Road, Monrovia CA, 91016. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the City of Hope (866) 683-4673.
