Spancer, David L April 24, 1968 - December 14, 2011 David Lawrence Spancer passed away on December 14, 2011 from colon cancer. David was born to Mike and Cookie Spancer on April 24, 1968 in Queens, NY. He grew up in Van Nuys, CA and attended Grant High School, where he founded The Royal Order of the Defenders of Chlorophyll, a club that didn??t do anything and met just three times. He attended UCLA and graduated in 1990 with a BA in Film. David worked as a script coordinator on TV comedies from ??The Larry Sanders Show?? to ??That ??70s Show.?? In 1996, he met and fell in love with Apryl Lundsten. They were married in 2002 at an unforgettable ceremony officiated by a gaggle of mad scientists and a Willy Wonka doppelganger. David and Apryl gathered together a wide circle of loyal friends who looked forward to their annual Superbowl and pre-Thanksgiving parties each year. Together they were enthusiastic travelers and adventurers who mixed up big batches of inventive cocktails, collected ??60s memorabilia, and always had an unwieldy but devoted group of oddballs and misfits in their midst. David was a skilled video editor who produced video content for the Ministry of Unknown Science from 2001 until 2006, most memorably the popular YouTube sketches ??Kung Fu F*** You?? and ??Detective Elephant Man.?? David went to great lengths to honor his friends and family, whether that meant leading Passover Seder at his mother Cookie??s house, creating elaborate mockumentaries for his friends?? weddings, or running around in the desert in 110 degree heat filming Leprechauns. David was a huge booster for his neighborhood, Eagle Rock, and loved the Grilled Cheese Invitational, placing highest at third with ??The Perfect Circle.?? In addition to Apryl and his mother Cookie, David is survived by his brother, Stanley, his sister-in-law Andrea, their two children Makena and Michael, and uncle Martin. A memorial service will be held from 3-5:30 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Los Angeles Center Studios, 1201 W 5th St Los Angeles, CA 90017.
