Dear Warren & Harlan and families, my deepest sympathies on the anniversary of your dear departed father, father-in -law, and grandfather. I feel very lucky to have been fortunate enough to spend many hours on numerous occasions playing golf with Irving and Warren . Although very serious about the game of golf and exceedingly talented at it, it was somewhat difficult for me to be a playing partner of the Sacks family. Irving had a swing reminiscent of somewhere between a left handed Sam Snead (Slamming), coupled with the effortless fluidity of Julian Boros. I certainly couldnt keep up with him, and I recall even Warren who was (and remains a more accomplished golfer than I) felt pressed by the way in which Irving played the game. Which is not to mention the hardest part of playing a round with Irving, namely; a never ending and constant barrage of jokes and stories, a true kibitzer extraordinaire! On one occasion I recall us playing on December 25, (Warrens birthday) with a surprise party planned for later that evening, and it was our duty to keep Warren occupied until delivering him to the party. I never heard a word of complaint from Irving but I do recall it was freezing (by LA standards). I remember thinking we must be crazy because Im wearing a ski jacket but Ive felt warmer at times stuck on a chairlift. Irving however was like the rock of Gibraltar, smiling, laughing and telling us stories and jokes the whole time until we finished our round and headed for Warrens Birthday celebration. The funniest and strangest thing Ive ever seen or experienced on a golf course also took place with Warren and Irving. We were playing one of the LA county municipal courses where the squirrels were so used to being fed that they would invariably attack your golf cart and steal and food on board, it didnt matter if it was wrapped in plastic or foil or not they would just take it! So we are out on the golf course and Irving lets go with one of his monster drives off of the tee. We head down the fairway after Warren and I hit our much shorter tee shots. Irving gets out of his golf cart and is approaching his ball to survey his next shot and almost out of nowhere in swoops a crow and grabs his ball with his beak and starts to fly off as if hes just landed himself a hard boiled egg. Well as Irvings luck would have it the crow advanced his ball down the fairway and left him a pretty good lie from which to play his approach shot. Really too unbelievable to make this up! Irving Sacks was a one of a kind guy, filled with lots of good humor and an understanding of the importance of enjoying the good things that life has to offer. Whenever I think of him all I can do is smile from ear to ear because Im reminded of an unending flow of stories and jokes and anecdotes all told by a man who was only trying to spread laughter and joie-de-vivre I hope that this kind and sweet man ((Irving Sacks zl) has found the eternal peace he so richly deserves.

Although I only knew Irving for the last few years of his life, from the moment I met him I knew how special of a person he was. He was a warm, loving, funny and caring person and I will miss him dearly and certainly never forget him. My deepest sympathies to his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
