Terry DOHERTY Obituary

DOHERTY, Terry 3/47 - 11/10 Terry Doherty died peacefully on November 28, 2010, at Huntington Hospital, losing his battle with Lymphoma. The fourth child of nine, of Frank and Barbara Doherty, longtime residents of La Canada, Terry attended St. Bede's School, St. Francis High School and PCC. He served with the Seabees during the Vietnam War. After discharge, Terry met and married Diane McCollom and moved to San Luis Obispo where their son, Sean, was born. One of Terry's greatest pleasures was coaching Sean in soccer and driving the team to matches all over California. A lifelong follower of the Dodgers, Terry shared his love of the game with Sean and his nephews, Brian and John Martens. He never missed an Opening Day. Terry was the loving husband of Diane and proud father of Sean. He is also survived by brothers John and Stephen and sisters Kathleen Doherty, Barbara Andrews, Anne Martens and Maribeth Bloch. The family is deeply grateful to Sisy and Ruth, for their loving care of Terry, as well as the staff of 4 West at Huntington Hospital. A memorial celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Cabot and Sons, 27 Chestnut Street, Pasadena. "Sian agus beannacht leat, Terry"

I was driving past the old 14th street Osos house last week during thanksgiving, on the way to visit my parents - such great memories on that street. Every time I think of Terry, I can't help but hear the words "Move Up!!!!" He would scream it so much on Saturday, that he couldn't speak on Sunday =) All of the tournaments, road trips, BBQ fundraisers, finals games, etc.... good times that I will never forget. Terry was a great Coach, Neighbor, Friend, Man. Please know that my family and I are thinking of you.
