David A. Bernot, 67, of Mount Joy, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in New Kensington, he was the son of the late John and Josephine (Strazzera) Bernot. Dave was the husband of Sarah (Steck) Bernot with whom he celebrated 42 years of marriage this past Oct. 13.
Dave was a graduate of Ford City High School, New Castle Business College and Fort Lauderdale University with a degree in business and accounting. He worked in commercial banking for 20 years at Hamilton Bank/ Corestates Bank and 19 years at Union National Bank. In 2011, Dave joined Bennett Williams Commercial Realty. Dave volunteered for 15 years with the Mount Joy Athletic Association, coaching baseball and serving as treasurer. He was a member of the Lancaster Corvette Club and a former member of the Mount Joy Lions Club, Mount Joy Chamber of Commerce and a Board Member of the Maytown East Donegal Township Fire Company. Dave was an avid golfer and car enthusiast.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Sarah, are three sons, Philip Bernot, husband of Stacey of Manheim, Michael Bernot of Mount Joy, and Timothy Bernot, husband of Kathleen of Elizabethtown. Also surviving are two grandchildren.
A memorial service honoring Dave's life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 47 W. Main St., Mount Joy on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at 11 a.m. Family and friends will be received at the church following the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
