Pippin Roe Obituary

"Be like nothing but ...black water in the moonlight" ~ PTKR

GREENVILLE - Pippin Traudel Kellogg Roe was born Nov. 9, 1974 in Greenville, at Brookwood Ecology Center and died approximately July 9, 2014 in Roxbury, Mass. of yet undetermined causes.

Pippin studied at Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, briefly in Amsterdam, and graduated from San Francisco Art Institute in 1997 in Interdisciplinary Studies and Painting BFA. She recently took psychology classes in preparation for a master's program in art therapy. Pippin did an internship at SFAI in art therapy and found it to be her own most healing personal therapy.

A talented artist, she especially enjoyed painting flowers, had several shows of her paintings, and recently won an award in the Fitchburg Museum "Spring into Bloom" show. Of late she had embraced beading with semiprecious stones. Her laugh was contagious. She loved performance art, dancing and drama and participated in numerous performances over her short life. Pip was a member for years of YRUU (Unitarian Religious Youth Group) and belonged to First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Fitchburg, Mass. Her creativity, light and courage touched many.

She is survived by her mother, Nancy Kellogg of Hardwick, Vt.; father, Eugene I. Roe of Greenville, and Fitchburg, Mass.; brothers, Zebadiah Gabrielle Kellogg-Roe of N.H., Micah Shalom Kesselman of Boston, Mass., Jon Roe of Keene, Ben K. Roe of Arlington, Mass.; sister, Laurel Roe Hicks of Gastonia, N.C; grandparents, W.H. (Tim) and Grace Kellogg in Wauwatosa, Wis.; aunts, Ginger (John) Lang, Concord, Mass., Mary Beth (Mike) Wild, Hubertus, Wis., Karen (Tom) Kress, Sparta, Wis., Kristi Funke, (Joe) Kalispell, Mont.; uncle, Steven Kellogg, Thiensville, Wis.; and great uncles, Charles (Alice) Kellogg, Waukesha, Wis., and Pat (Lavonne) Kellogg, New Port Richey, Fla.; and many cousins and friends throughout the country.

A Celebration of Pippin's life will be held at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Fitchburg, Mass., on Aug. 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. The reception will include a showing of her collected paintings. A trust is being formed in Pippin's memory to develop housing and appropriate support for dual diagnosis bipolar women. Details at [email protected]. Immediate memorial donations can be sent to First Parish Church Universalist Unitarian Church at 923 Main St., Fitchburg, Mass. 01420. Memoirs may be shared at www.facebook.com/pippinmemorial.

I am sad to hear of Pippins passing. She was a beautiful and delightful child. I could never forget how knowleageable she was about books and theater at a young age. You are in our hearts and prayers, may you rest in peace.

my favorite memory of pippin is the time she came rushing in the door of the first parish church, just as the service was ending. she had a bouquet of wild flowers and a big smile. she shyly, but proudly placed her offering in front of the pulpit, and quickly took her seat. that was pippin. she was just what her name would suggest,an irrepressible, unbounded spirit, what used to be called a free spirit. she was all of that! the world will be a poorer, drearier, and less interesting place without her. However, luckily for us, we still have our memories. Bon Voyage Pippin! Thank You for all the Memories.. Lisa
