MONAGHAN, Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Jr., 77, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was a son of the late Lawrence Joseph Monahan Sr. and Virginia Shaver Monahan. Mr. Monahan was the first Eagle Scout of Wakefield Troop 24 and a graduate of Benedictine High School class of 1954. He was the owner of Larry Monahan Enterprises and a member of the Shrine of the Infant Jesus of Prague in Wakefield. Larry was an active member of his community who was known by many and loved by all. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Monahan; children, Lawrence J. Monahan III and wife, Anne, Tammy M. Goodrich and husband, Edwin, Tim Monahan and wife, Judy, Kevin Monahan and wife, Janet, Mary M. Garrahan and husband, Tom, and Jody M. Schorr and husband, Eric; stepson, Wallace Brittle and wife, Leslie; grandchildren, Lawrence J. Monahan IV and his wife, Debbie and Meredith Monahan, Megan Goodrich and Jenny Goodrich, Leigh and Allison Monahan, Drew and Brad Monahan, Lindsay Joyner and Ryan, Sutton and Sam Garrahan, Emma and Monica Schorr and Allison and Isaac Brittle; great-grandchildren, Lawrence J. Monahan V and Michael Monahan; siblings, Beverly Schell, Jim Monahan, Jenny Lee Norris, Mike Monahan and John Monahan; his faithful and beloved companion, Petey, and numerous nieces, nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Wakefield Chapel, 11414 General Mahone Hwy., Wakefield, Va. 23888 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Shrine of the Infant Jesus of Prague. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be posted at www.rwbakerfh.com.
