Susan Marie (Giofreda) Andrews Adams Monaghan, age 76, of Shrewsbury, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 21, 2025, at U Mass Hospital with her children by her side. She was born on August 11, 1949, at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts; a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Hawes) Giofreda. The family is deeply saddened by her sudden death.
Susan is survived and missed by her three children and daughter in laws: Anthony & Rebecca Andrews III, Joshua & Kimberly Adams, and Jenny & David Hiitt; her 6 grandchildren Miranda, Latta, Madison, Quinn, Hunter, and Attaya; her bother Brian and sister Marianne and her beloved dog Millie. She also leaves behind many aunts, and cousins, and close friends that she would call her sisters. Susan was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Mary Giofreda and her brother Gary Paul Giofreda.
Susan started her journey in life at Coolidge School and then on to Shrewsbury High School where she was the class secretary and played on the JV Basketball team. She was known by her friends as smartest, cutest kid at SHS.
It was after Susan had all her children when she explored her truest passion in floral design and opened Lakeside Florists and Gifts in Shrewsbury Mass.
Susan was small in stature but was grand in personality. She was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. Those who knew her will remember her for her kind and loving nature, her love of shopping and for a good party (if there was cake). Her love for shopping was driven by her love for others and what they would need.
A couple of years ago Susan started a new chapter in her life, leaving Shrewsbury to head across the lake to Worcester. In true Susan fashion she quickly became the neighborhood grandma, gardening with the neighborhood children and sharing the kindness for which she was so well known.
In honor of Susan's love of life, we invite anyone attending calling hours to wear a splash of color- especially pink, which she loved.
Flowers may be sent, or memorial contribution may be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (www.ifcj.org) or to the Worcester Animal Rescue League (www.worcesterarl.org).
Relatives and friends may visit with Susan's family on Tuesday October 28, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Britton- Shrewsbury Funeral Home 648 Main St., Shrewsbury, Ma. Susan was a lifelong member of St. Anne's Church, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
