John Edward Talbot, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, educator, and faithful servant of the Catholic Church, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at the age of 83.

Born in Medford, Massachusetts, on October 17, 1941, John was the beloved son of Sarah and George Talbot. He was the third of four children and was predeceased by his sisters Mary Lou Flaherty and Susan Zenus. He is survived by his sister Sarah Panciocco and her husband, Joseph, of Shrewsbury.

John shared 61 years of unwavering love and companionship with his wife, Rose (Lambert) Talbot. Together they built a family grounded in faith, compassion, and service. John often said that Rose was the greatest influence in his adult life, she brought out the best in him in every way.

He is survived by his daughters Sarah and her husband, Anthony Montoya; Jennifer and her husband, Shawn Shields; and Aimee and her husband, Robert Davis. John was predeceased by twin daughters; Marie Ann and Theresa Ann, who passed away at birth. John and Rose were blessed with twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life. He will also be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews, and by his sisters-in-law Winnie Bourque, Louise Banderi, and Frances Farrell.

A lifelong educator, John began his career in the Wayland Public Schools as a co-op student at Northeastern University. He went on to serve as a teacher for six years and school principal for thirty-one years until his retirement in 2001. His commitment to education was matched by his passion for helping others.

After retiring, John and Rose settled in North Eastham on Cape Cod, where he found joy in gardening and generously shared his harvest with friends and neighbors. His Catholic faith remained central throughout his life, and he was a devoted volunteer in his parish and community.

John will be remembered for his honesty, warmth, and tireless dedication to service. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched-as an educator, friend, and family man.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to any St. Vincent de Paul Society in John's memory.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with John's family on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury.
