Sarah DeWitt Cavacas Sarah DeWitt Cavacas, 46, passed away in Boston, Massachusetts, on Friday, June 28, 2013, after a brief illness with her husband at her side for several days and nights. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 23, 1967, Sarah was the daughter of Mary Lou DeWitt and the late Kenneth C. DeWitt. Sarah was predeceased by infant brother, Eric. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Alan Cavacas of Middleburg, Va.; brother, Carl DeWitt and wife, Barbara, of Lynchburg, Va.; sister, Erica and husband, Norman Silverman, of Charleston, S.C.; nephews, Skyler Silverman and Holden Silverman of Charleston, S.C.; Alan's brother. John and Marcie Cavacas of Hartford, Conn.; Alan's sister, Sharlene and Donald Cerullo of Winter Garden, Fla. Mrs. Cavacas graduated from Seven Hills School in Lynchburg, and received and B.S. degree in Psychology from James Madison University. She was employed by Tetra Tech, Inc., Vienna, Va., from 1990 until1996. She and Alan spent the next six years in Newport Beach, Calif. After returning to Virginia, Sarah was employed by government contractor Sparta Inc. as a budget analyst and later as subcontractor administrator. We will miss Sarah's kind smiling face and talkative nature. Sarah loved Cape Cod and had spent time there with Alan just prior to her brief bout with cancer. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at St. John's Episcopal Church, 200 Boston Ave., Lynchburg 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, with the Reverend Diane E. Vie officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.

We were heart broken to hear of Sarah's death. We will treasure the memories of our sail boat outings and dinners together in Newport Beach.

Sarah was a sweet and fun person.We had many great times in lynchburg. The DeWitts always made me feel welcome and the times will never be forgotten.I am so sorry that sarah was taken from us so early. We will cherish the many memories we all had of a wonderful friend,sister, and daughter. May God bless you all.

Sarah was very kind and professional. I had many conversations by phone and email with her, in my role as a contract administrator, and she was always professional, efficient, and cheerful. She will definitely be missed.
