JOHN DALY Obituary

After a courageous battle with cancer Jack Daly of Stony Point passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2007. Jack was born in Dobbs Ferry, NY on September 6, 1931 to Michael Daly and Anna Fox Daly and was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School and Manhattan College. During his college years Jack worked as a page for NBC in Rockefeller Center and then became a proud member of the US Army serving in Korea. He worked for IBM for 28 years, retiring in 1987 and found a new career as a school bus driver and aide for Haverstraw Transit. Jack was a Volunteer Fireman in Stony Point for many years and served as president of the Stony Point Fireman's Benevolent Association. He was an accomplished communicator who served as a lector at his home church of St. Gregory Barbarigo for over 40 years and was a roving reporter for WRKL, WJRC, WNBC and WHUD. Jack also served as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Gregory's and at Helen Hayes Hospital and also served his community as a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Haverstraw Council 581 and as a member of the Haverstraw Elks. Jack leaves behind his loving wife, Maureen and his five children and spouses Patrick and Reanne; Kieran and Kerri; Maureen and Russell Certo; Kathleen and Donald Fazio and Peggy and Mark Miears. He also leaves behind his 12 grandchildren Kira, Tricia, Kaci, Jack, Deirdre, Aileen, Jami, Beth, Craig, Derek, Jordan and Breanna; his two step-grandchildren Christopher and Jonathan, his brother Michael and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 12, at Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point from 7-9 pm and on Sunday, May 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, May 14, at 10:15 am in St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville, NY. Burial will follow in Ascension Cemetery, Monsey, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's memory to Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461. HIGGINS FUNERAL HOME 73 North Liberty Dr. Stony Point 845-786-3500
