Joseph Torpey Obituary
Joseph F. Torpey, age 71, a life long resident of Haverstraw passed away March 7, 2014.
He was a graduate of Haverstraw High School. He served in the United States Air Force and worked for many years in the grocery industry. Joseph was an avid supporter of all Haverstraw sports especially the Haverstraw Little League. He is survived by his four brothers, Thomas W. Torpey and wife Lenore of Pomona, NY , John E. Torpey of Sturbridge, Mass., William T. Torpey and wife Lisa of Glen Rock, NJ., James M.Torpey and wife Joann of Cocoa Beach, FL. Also, numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister in law Mary Ann Torpey. Visitation will be held Monday, March 10, 2014 from 7-9 PM at the George M. Holt Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM. at St Peters Church, 115 Broadway, Haverstraw, New York. Interment will follow at Mt. Repose Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations in Loving Memory of Joseph F. Torpey may be made to the Haverstraw Little League, PO Box, 336, Garnerville, NY 10923.

Billy, Sue and I were saddened to learn of Joe's untimely passing. He did so much to make Haverstraw Little League the outstanding organization that it has been for so many years. Our heartfelt wishes are extended to you and your brothers.

I rarely went to St.Gregory's, St. Peters or the Haverstraw Little League without seeing Joe helping out in some way. His help to the kids and the organizations were obvious. I hope time will ease the pain for the Torpey family. Linda and Richard Korn
