Catherine Hinton Obituary

Catherine Hinton Lansing "Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies" Age 65, was born June 22, 1944 in Montgomery, AL and went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2009. As a "Crown Jewel" of her family, there have been many joyous and happy hours spent with unity and love. She endured her life with a tenacity that exhibited her strength through out her life. She moved to Chicago, IL then Lansing, MI at an early age. She graduated from J. W. Sexton High School and retired from General Motors. She was a former member of Union Missionary Baptist Church and New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Later she joined Messiah Community Baptist Church of which her husband, the Reverend Lawrence H. Hinton, was founder. She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Kimberly Ann Hinton; mother, Claire Farrow-Raines; and step- father, Larry Raines. Survivors include: her husband of 47 years, Reverend Lawrence H. Hinton; daughters, Cathy Grace Hinton and Paris M. Hinton; sons, Lawrence, Jr., Marty, and Derrick (Nikki) Hinton; brother, Lonnie Paul; 8 grandchildren, Derrick II, Rafael, Jacob, Kimberly Ann, Kaside, Derrick III, Haley, Kennedy, Domonik; 4 aunts; 2 uncles; and host of family and friends. Friends may visit Mrs. Catherine Hinton Thursday, October 15, 9 am - 9 pm, at the Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 16, 12:00 pm at New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 3800 W. Miller Road. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral. The family thanks Eaton Community Hospice and special, nurse, Elaine, for the wonderful care. Also, a special thanks for to Rev. Lonnie Chipps and the New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church family for opening the doors to their church.

I remember spending time with Mrs. Hinton after Kim's death. I took her to get her hair done and then we went out to lunch. She was a woman who unconditionally loved her family. You guys meant the world to her and my heart goes out to you.
