Charles Roth Obituary

Charles E. Roth Charles E. Roth age 83 passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 19, 2009. He was born November 11, 1925 to the late Arthur and Anna (Goodrich) Roth in rural Grand Ledge. He was a life long resident of the Grand Ledge area, and farmed most of his life. He enjoyed old country music and for several years he and his beloved wife Flora Mae, traveled to Evart, Michigan to listen to the music at the Dulcimer Festival and often listened to the Grand Ole Opry. His other hobbies were hunting, fishing, reading and watching old westerns. After retiring they traveled several winters to the South and West in their motor home. During the 1950's he was a pitcher on the men's fast pitch softball team in Grand Ledge. He was an avid Tigers fan; if the game was not on T.V. he would turn the radio to WJR and listen to the broadcast. He also enjoyed the Lions and Pistons games. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Flora Mae (Mills) Roth; children, Marie (Richard) Halstead, Diane Roth (Richard Smith), Jack Roth, Brian Roth (Angie Hankins). 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson; brother, Howard (Molly) Roth; sister, Donna Ito; and sister-in-law, Wilma Roth. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by two infant sons, and brothers Roger and Glenn Roth. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge with The Reverend Judith L. Scholten, officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday 2-5 p.m. and Monday 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mid-Michigan Food Bank, 2116 Mint Rd.
