Nancy Gillespie Obituary

Nancy M. Gillespie Age 69, ended her brave 12 year battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her friends and family, on April 12, 2010. Born October 5, 1940, Nancy was a lifelong resident of Lansing. She graduated from Eastern High School in 1959 and completed her education at Michigan State University. She began her teaching career at Portland High School and retired from Waverly Middle School after 31 years. Nancy was a beautiful, gracious lady who adored her family. She loved music, dance, travel, and spent many summers relaxing on Lake Leelanau. She is survived by her husband, Gary; daughters, Dana Gardener- (Brad) Clark and Theresa (Michael) Ku; step-daughter, Annette Gillespie; stepson, Robert (Paige) Gillespie; grandchildren, Evan and Cameryn Clark, Kayla and Tyler Gillespie, Bryson Ku; sister, Madeline (Torrence) Hanford; brothers, Lavern (Jeanne) Connick, Charles (Joyce) Gibbs; and sister-in-law, Ann Connick. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Agnes Teachout; sister, Marguerite Bentley; and brother, Richard Connick. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held May 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Edgewood United Church, 469 N. Hagadorn, East Lansing, MI 48823. Those desiring may make contributions to Sparrow Hospice House of Mid Michigan, P.O. Box 30480, Lansing, MI 48909, or to the Waverly Education Foundation, 515 Snow Road, Lansing, MI 48917. A special thank you to the Sparrow Hospice, Terry Humenick, and Dr. Carol Rapson and staff. The family is being served by Tiffany Funeral Home.
