Shirley Miller Obituary

Shirley Kay Miller DeWitt Age 75, died August 8, 2009; born November 18, 1933 in Lansing, MI. Shirley was a kind and loving woman who was witty and honest. She had a supportive soul and enjoyed the Red Wings and Spartan Basketball. Shirley was a trusted confidant and considered "Mom" by many and she will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brother, Robert; sisters, Roberta, Beverly and Barbara. She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Winkel and Sherry (Mark) Van Kampen; sons, Craig (Connie) Miller, Blake (Jacki) Miller, Gary (Deborah) Miller and Tracy (Penny) Miller; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Serrels and Roland (Gwen) Serrels; sisters, Patricia Dunn and Phyllis Daggy. Hailey was Shirley's very special dog and close companion. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2009, 2:00 pm, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt. Interment will follow at Deepdale Memorial Gardens Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 3100 West Road, Bldg B, Suite 110, East Lansing, MI 48823 or the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, 1169 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108 in memory of Shirley.

We are so saddened by the news of your mom's death. She was a dear and precious friend to both of us and we will miss her.
