William Calladine Obituary

William Henry "Harry" Calladine Grand Ledge William Henry "Harry" Calladine, age 102, of Grand Ledge, MI, formerly of Battle Creek, MI, died Sunday morning, May 2, 2010, at Independence Village of Grand Ledge. Harry was born on May 8, 1907 in Derby, England and emigrated from Liverpool, England to Battle Creek in 1925. He was the son of Enoch and Selina (Martin) Calladine. Harry retired in 1972 as the Chief of Motive Power for the Grand Trunk Railroad after 47 years of faithful service. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists, Local # 1113 and a Life Member of the Ira A. Beck Lodge # 503, F & AM. In March of 1943, in Chicago, IL, Harry was united in marriage to the former, Mildred Rose Chalupa, who preceded him in death on October 3, 1994. Surviving is his daughter, Janis C. Bancroft of Grand Ledge; two grandchildren, Christine A. (Andrew) Oury of Troy, MI and Scott M. (Allison) Bancroft of Wixom, MI and by five great grandchildren. Harry was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Steven E. Bancroft; by his sister, Selina Blett and by two brothers, Harold and Thomas Calladine. The private, graveside service to celebrate Harry's life will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2435 W. Territorial Road, Battle Creek, with the Rev. John T. Barker, Pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene of Lansing, MI, officiating. Also conducting a Masonic Service will be members of the Ira A. Beck Lodge # 503. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Harry's honor may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2211 North Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, IL, 60707-3392. The Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek is in charge of all the arrangements. Personal messages for the family may be directed to www.farleyestesdowdle.com
