I only knew Shayla through brief interactions where she worked, but she always made the experience brighter with her beautiful smile and her adorable demeanor. I know, from what I've heard, she had many people who loved her and I know will miss her terribly.
What was done to her was cruel and senseless, but I hope those who love her take comfort in the fact that, even someone like me who only knew her in passing moments, she touched people in the nicest of ways and will be missed by oh so many.
R.I.P. beautiful girl. I hope you're watching over all of us now from a much better place.

We met Shayla a few months back at Check 'N Go. We saw Shayla every other week since then. We thought very highly of Shayla. We could see that she had goals and that she was going somewhere in life. She was constantly making us laugh by sharing stories with us about all of the medical things she thought she had because her dad was a doctor and she was addicted to WebMD. We were shocked today when Shayla was not at work and then we were told what happened. We just want you to know that everyone thought Shayla was an amazing young woman and what happened to her was definitely not deserved. We are blessed to have our lives touched by Shayla. Our condolences go out to your family. We will miss seeing Shayla's bright face every other week at Check 'N Go. Rest in Peace Shayla.

Shayla had a way about her that people loved when they met her. Not to mention a smile that lit up the room. She made an impact in many ways and touched many lives in her short 19 years. We were sad to see her go when she moved on with her life to a different job and we are deeply sad to know we now will only see her smiling face in our memories. We hope you and your family find comfort and peace in knowing Shayla had a purpose and her life had meaning. What a beautiful ANGEL she now is and that in itself brings peace to many knowing she will be watching over all who she touched and then some.

I absolutely adored Shayla. As recently as July 16th, she came over and we spent a night together talking about life and the future. I loved making her smile. She had an amazing aura about her, and it touched on every person she interacted with. We were just beginning to build a great friendship. She had something inside her that was indescribable. She made those around her feel so loved. I will pray for you Shayla, as well as for the family and friends that you impacted so greatly. We love you so much, and can't wait to see you again one day.

We will always have fond memories of Shayla. Her intelligence, poise, and beauty belied her goofy warmth and innocence. I remember our trip to Myrtle Beach when she was 15. We ate a a fondue resturant. A dish was perpared at our table. A can of beer was added to the cheese and heated in the pot. Even though 98% of the alcohol was burned away and the dish was shared by 5 people, Shayla and my neices Brandi and Sam staggered and giggled for hours. My heart is with her family
