James MacInness Obituary

James Carroll MacInness Charlotte James Carroll MacInness, 59, of Charlotte, MI lost a yearlong hard fought battle with cancer on Thursday, March 10, 2011. Marlo (who later changed his name to James) was born February 28, 1952 in Lansing, MI, the son of Gleason and Surrae MacInness. In 1970, Marlo graduated from Everett High School in Lansing, MI. He later attended Lansing Community College earning a certificate in Respiratory Therapy and worked in that field before joining the Michigan Corrections Department. Jim retired from Ionia Maximum Security Prison in 2010 after 24 years of service. In his free time, Jim loved to travel with his wife, Judy. They traveled extensively throughout the United States and also enjoyed their adventures in Hawaii, the Caribbean and Scotland. Jim and Judy were also known to simply load up their camper to enjoy a weekend in the woods. Jim was a lifelong Michigan State University Spartan fan and loved to attend games for any sport. He particularly enjoyed watching the marching band prepare for their entrance to the football stadium. But most of all, Jim loved spending time with his family. Grandpa Mac will be dearly missed. He is survived by his beloved wife Judy; daughters, Beth (Stan) Oldfield of Annapolis, MD, Kim Bankhead of Ypsilanti, Marci Bankhead of Holt; granddaughters, Sara and Sydney Oldfield; sister, Karla (Rod) Rogers of Bay City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2011 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI, with cousin, Carolyn Robinson-Fisher officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice. Online condolences may be made at www.prayfuneral.com. Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI.

Sorry to hear of Jims passing. I grew up with Marlo as I knew him in the Kensington road neighborhood and have many fond memories. My sympathy to the family.
