Dean Sorter Obituary

Dean Yaeger Sortor

Age 84, died on 12/13/14. Dean was born January 31, 1930 in Detroit, the son of John Yaeger Sortor and Marjorie Dean.

Dean married Nancy McLean (Lilly) on May 18, 1973. In the nearly 40 years they lived in Stockbridge they started the Saturday night league at Gold Star Lanes in, helped with the startup of Williamston Eagles, hosted their family Pig Out for more than thirty years, camped a lot, enjoyed their grandchildren, and Dean retired ownership of D&B Excavating Co.

Dean is survived by his loving step-children; Robin (Vern) Schwanke of Colby, KS; Shannon Yost of Big Rapids, MI, Brian McLean of Mason, MI; and his children from his first marriage; Janet (Tim) McLaughlin of Reading, MA; Susan (Patrick) Leger of Lyon, France; Dean Edward (Debi) Sortor of Harrison Twp., MI; Betsy Sortor of Traverse City, MI; and Donna (John) Benedict of Arlington Hts, IL; also his niece and nephew who he raised; Diane (Mick) O'Connell, and Michael (Linda) Broadway. Also, Sixteen Grandchildren, ten Great-Grandchildren and many, many much loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his step-Dad, Ed Stewart, his brother Richard, and his wife Nancy.

A memorial will be held at the Williamston Eagles #4091, on December 28th at 2:00. Memorial contributions can be made to the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System or to the Williamston Eagles.
