Frances Gibson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 2 to Jul. 3, 2013.
Our precious mother, Frances Gibson, age 87, went home to the Lord on June 30, 2013, at Pinecrest Retirement Community. She was born on September 24, 1925, to Claudia Joyce (Weaver) and Siegel Earl Scroggins in the Homer Community of Lufkin, Texas. Her husband of 57 years, Frank Earl Gibson, Jr., her parents, and brother, Robert Earl Scroggins, preceded her in death. Frances is survived by her daughters, Joyce Elizabeth Summers, Marianne Stone and her husband, Wayne, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Amy Michelle Molandes and husband, Chris of Lufkin, and Katie Leanne Summers and fiancé Justin Murray of La Porte; great-grandchildren, Maddison Makayla Molandes and Conner Louis Molandes of Lufkin; brother, Harold Edwin Scroggins and wife, Bettie Lou of Homer Community; and sister-in-law, Betty Ann Scroggins of Lufkin; aunt, Jo Ann Gibson of Crosby; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. Frances retired at age of 62 after 10 years of employment with the City of Lufkin Fire Department under Chief Billy Stephens. She was the first woman to be hired by the Fire Department and was totally devoted to 'Her Boys', who fondly called her 'Mrs. G'. The family appreciates the love of her care providers at Pinecrest Retirement Community and Affinity Hospice. We would especially like to acknowledge the loving care for many years of Dr. Lenin Pinnamaneni and Dr. Prasad K. Paddu. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerry Anderson of Homer United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.gipsonfuneralhome.com. Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.Sanders died July 1, 2013, in Lufkin.
