John Morris Modisette

John Morris Modisette, 87, of Lufkin, was born March 7, 1921, in Pollok, Texas, the son of the late Nora (Martin) and John I. Modisette. He passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008, in a local hospital. Mr. Modisette was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was retired from Lufkin Industries, where he had worked as a welder. He created and collected hand-made knives. Mr. Modisette served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and was a member of Keltys First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Beth Modisette of Lufkin; daughter, Linda Modisette of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Gary Webb of Diboll; grandchildren, Justin Modisette and wife Cassidy of Lufkin, Josh Webb and wife Delana of Diboll, Jennifer Webb of Diboll, Jeremy Webb of Diboll and Susan Modisette of Austin; 5 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Velma Modisette of Pollok; and sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Tom Ladd of Pollok. Mr. Modisette was preceded in death by his son, Billy Modisette; one brother; and three sisters. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Modisette, Josh Webb, Jeremy Webb, Dennis Modisette, Collis Modisette and Kenny Modisette. Graveside services for Mr. Modisette will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2008, in the Gann Cemetery, with Reverend Eddie Ballard officiating. Gipson Funeral Home; Joni Johnson, director.
