A graduate of Skowhegan High School, class of 1949, he served in the Army as a sergeant and a combat engineer, serving two years in Korea during the Korean War.
Arthur was an employee for 32 years of New England Telephone Co., working as an installation and repair man, retiring in 1986. After retiring from the telephone company, he worked for Skowhegan Savings Bank as a maintenance man for six years before retiring full time. He was also a registered locksmith who enjoyed the challenges of working with locks. In his spare time, he loved to watch the Boston Red Sox, read and travel; he wintered in Florida for 20 years. He was very social and had many friends in Florida, including special friends Joyce Guerin of Largo, Fla., and Bill and Lola Clark of Belleair, Fla. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Shirley Bouchard Thibault; three children, David Thibault of Skowhegan, Pamela Mclellan and husband Darren of Cape Elizabeth, and Karen Thibault of Portland; as well as two grandchildren, Peter Thibault of Saco and Therese Thibault of Madison. Arthur had three sisters, Delia Demo (deceased) of Skowhegan, Roseva Thebarge of Skowhegan and Doris Beals of Calgary, Alberta; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his many doctors and nurses in Florida who took great care of him during his final days.
At his request, there will be a graveside service at a date to be announced.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Skowhegan Free Public Library, 9 Elm St., Skowhegan, ME 04976.

Although I did not get to visit very often, when we did meet, he always had a funny story to tell. I am so glad that he got to enjoy his retirement, do what he wanted, and travel.
