She married Basil L. Haining on April 4, 1941, and lived in Newport most of her life. Helen worked at Gerald's Store in Newport for many years until retiring. She loved her home, enjoyed working in her flower gardens, crocheting afghans for special ones, playing cards and taking rides in the country with her sister, Andy, and sister-in-law Stella.
She is survived by two sisters, Marion Austin and Lois "Andy" Boulier, both of Newport; a sister-in-law, Florence Boulier, of Palmyra; a special niece, Brenda Haroldsen, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and several other nieces and nephews.
At Helen's request, there will be no visiting hours. Graveside funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Friday, May 6,, at Riverside Cemetery, Newport, with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Ronald McDonald House, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401-5649; or to a charity of one's choice. Those who wish may sign an on-line register at www.CrosbyNeal.com.

I'm so sorry to hear of Helen's passing. During my high school years I had the priviledge of working with her at Gerald's. She was indeed a great lady and mentor to me. She has always held a very special place in my heart.
