Ethelyn G. Munroe, 92
PORTLAND -- Ethelyn G. Munroe, 92, of Falmouth, passed away on May 2, 2011, at Mercy Hospital.
Born on Feb. 14, 1919, in Starks, she was the daughter of the late Leland O. and Hazel Beane Grey. She was a graduate of Madison High School, where she played piano all four years for a variety of musical activities and was a member of the National Honor Society. In her senior year, she was chosen by the Daughters of the American Revolution Society to represent the State of Maine at the National Conference in Washington, D.C., where she spoke at many meetings of the DAR throughout the State of Maine concerning the National Conference.
Ethelyn was a graduate of Northeastern Business College in Portland. A fond lover of music, she was past president of the Yachtsmen Music Boosters at Falmouth High School. She was currently employed at Clark, Friel and Joyce, PA. in Portland, where she worked for the past 26 years. She considered the principals, staff and clients of this firm as her second family.
Ethelyn touched many lives throughout her 92 years. She treasured her time with her family and friends dearly. Her home was always open and food and coffee were always available to her neighbors and friends and especially to the Falmouth Police Department.
Besides her husband, Stanley L. Munroe, on March 3, 2010, Ethelyn was predeceased by her daughter, Judy, who had lived with her for the majority of her life. Ethelyn was such a wonderful friend to my parents, Edgar and Lucille Allen. We will always remember being invited to gathering and feeling like part of her family. As we live on our connections will always include fond memories and gratitude for all she gave of herself to others and the friendship Ethelyn nurtured with our whole families. We will miss her kind spirit greatly. I will think of her often in my prayers and heaven directed thoughts. Love, Madalienne Allen Rowell
