Kristin Spitzinger Obituary

Kristin Moline Spitzinger, 60
GRAY -- Kristin Jean Moline Spitzinger, 60, of Gray, passed serenely from this life on April 17, 2011, at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness with her beloved children, Anna and Jonathan, and husband William at her side.
Kris was born on July 17, 1950, in Burlington, Vt. She was the daughter of George A. Moline and Jean Ericson Moline. Kris grew up and attended school in Burnt Hills, N.Y., before moving to Cape Elizabeth during her senior year of high school.
She graduated from the University of Southern Maine and went on to pursue a 35 year career in Early Childhood Special Education that included positions at the Cerebral Palsy Center, The Infant Development Center and Woodfords Family Services. Kris touched many young lives with her kindness, dedication and expertise while also forging lifelong friendships with colleagues along the way. Kris also devoted her time to volunteer service including terms on the Boards of Directors of PROP, SAD15, and the Forest Lake Association.
Kris was the proud, devoted mother of Jonathan of Denver, Colo., and Anna of Windham; and was continuously delighted by her precious granddaughter, Ava. She is also survived by her loving husband of 34 years, William; brother, Erik Moline and wife Gloria (Scarborough), brother, Kirk Moline and wife Robin (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), brother, Andrew Moline (Clifton Park, N.Y.); and by her proud and loving father, George A. Moline (Saratoga, N.Y.). She left us to join her cherished mother and best friend Jean Ericson Moline in heaven where together they will watch over all of us.
The treasures in Kris's life were her family, her many friends, and the many special times she made with all of them.
Kristin Moline Spitzinger
She leaves us with memories of a lifetime of wonderful moments at our home on the lake, of many family vacation trips and the many holiday family get-togethers that were often highlighted by the dinners she made by herself and with her Mom. She leaves memories of cove parties and good times with neighbors, especially her trips with her lifelong friend and neighbor Julie. There were special times too numerous to count with our friends the Mains, Mooneys, Sherlocks and Youngs from dinner and game nights to holiday parties and camping trips. Kris thought of them as special times for laughter and for building memories.
She delighted especially in her friendships with her Figari girlfriends Audrey, Becki, Beth, Nancy, Norrie, Peggy, and Terry. Their annual trips, especially to Vieques, and the fun they had together were a very important part of her life. May her presence be felt at these special times in the future and may it remind us of the way Kris lived her life: 'Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much.'
Relatives and friends are invited to Kris's memorial service on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 10 a.m., at the First Congregational Church of Gray, United Church of Christ, 11 Yarmouth Rd., Gray. The Rev. Nancy Salisbury will officiate. Refreshments at the Parish Hall will follow. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Rd., Gray.

Charlie and I were just up at the lake last weekend and spoke of Kris and how it seemed like yesterday we were having a fun chat with her while doing Spring clean up in our yards. A warm kind-hearted soul that is very much missed but never forgotten!

Remembering Kris on the anniversary of her arrival into heaven nine years ago. I am comforted to follow Anna and her family journaling on FB and the pop in visits from Bill over the years. Kris laid a strong foundation for her family to build upon and a model of what it means to be a true friend for all of us to remember and follow. Having recently travelled to Greece, I now understand her love of the country and its people. Every time I see or hear a loon, I am reminded of Kriss love of the water and her infectious laugh. Miss you dear Figari sister

Bill, Jon, Anna and Ava,
I've just read all of the amazing tributes to your wonderful wife, mother and grammy. Kris was genuinely able to make each one of us feel so very special to her. She has left a huge hole in so many hearts and lives and it is hard to understand why she is gone. Thankfully we all have many memories and "lessons" that we can use to carry her love of life with us each day. I am so grateful for knowing her and calling her my Figari sister.
My love and prayers are being sent out to you daily.

Our daughter Mary was one of Kris' students several years ago. She not only nurtured Mary but her parents, as new and green as we were in the world of special education. What a lovely woman. Wishing you strength at this difficult time. Missy Burke, Mom of Mary

To The family of Kris, I am so sorry for your losses of Kris and her Mom. I just found out yesterday and still am in shock. The last time I saw Kris was at our High School reunion a few years back. It was so good to see her then. My heart goes out to you all. I know she will be missed.

Anna, Bill and Jonathan,

I am sorry for your loss and for the pain you are surely enduring. While I've known Kris as a close friend of my mom, and as "Anna's mom" for many years, it was in these past few that I came to know her as a friend of my own. Kris is someone with whom I could share a funny story or that which was weighing most heavily on my heart. She made me feel cared for and loved as we shared in both the heartbreaking pain and the happy reflections that followed losing someone very dear to both of us. Kris was an incredible friend to everyone blessed enough to share in her friendship. I know I can speak for myself, TJ and Molly when I say that we will miss her very much and we will forever be grateful for how much she has done for our family. You will remain in our thoughts for the months ahead.

All of my love,

I had the honor of working alongside Kris for two years at Woodfords Family Services. I have many wonderful memories of Kris and all of the endeavors we engaged in while at work. Kris was my mentor while at Woodfords. I always admired her ease and expertise with children and families. She took the time to listen with her heart and solve problems with her mind. She was amazing! Kris was always a source of knowledge and expertise for all the staff. She was always willing to take time out of her busy schedule to help guide and support ones knowledge of working with families as well as understanding the family fundamentals. I will truely miss this engaging woman with such a beautiful spirit. I will carry on her legacy by utilizing all that she has taught me and working hard for families in need.

I received a phone call while looking at a Palm Tree knowing that another Angel has joined the world of peace and will be working along the side of her dear friend Audrey. Palm Trees are something we all loved and symbolize the beauty of living life. Chris was always there to listen and provide advice. She is a beautiful woman and enjoyed expressing herself in so many different ways. Know that she will always be with you and she brought so much love to our world. Now that love with continue with her good friend Audrey and the two of them will be working miracles together in their new journey with the Lord. Bill, Anna, Jonathan, and family,

I am out here in California, crying every time I hear Kris' laughter in my head - and I am hearing it all day. I am still in shock, as all of you must be. Kris and I go back almost 40 years, and though we only saw each other a few times since our time in Maine and our crazy travels across the U.S., we were kindred spirits. Every time we spoke or wrote, we were right back to being close friends. Through time and distance, I always thought of her as a best friend. I loved her and cannot imagine life without her. I am so sorry for all of you and for all of us who were touched deeply by her love, care, honesty and laughter.
