Alice Berthiaume-Croteau Obituary
BIDDEFORD -- Alice D. Berthiaume-Croteau, 90, of Biddeford died Friday May 13, 2011 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a long illness with lung disease. She was born in Biddeford on Jan. 10, 1921 a daughter of Agenard and Julia Charron Bourgault and educated in local schools.
On June 6, 1938 she married Wilfrid Berthiaume in St. Andre's Church in Biddeford. He died Nov. 16, 1970. On Jan. 24, 1987 she married Emilien Croteau in St. Joseph Church. He died Oct. 1, 1988.
Mrs. Croteau worked a few years with the Pepperell Mfg. Co. in Biddeford. She worked 10 years in local shoe shops and worked 20 years in area restaurants, retiring in 1977.
She enjoyed cooking, knitting and 'dining out' with family and friends.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond W. Berthiaume & his wife Judy of Biddeford, Donald R. Berthiaume & his wife Jeanne of Kennebunkport, one daughter, Doris Baker of Biddeford, one step-son, Raymond Croteau of Biddeford, one step-daughter, Rachel Rousselle and her husband Robert of Biddeford; one brother, Joseph E. Bourgeault and his wife Blanche of Saco, one sister, Anita LeProhon of Biddeford; nine grandchildren, Jay, Michael, Blake, David, Lance, Lorrie, Christopher, Jennifer and Gretchen; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren;several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be Sunday May 15, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at St. Joseph Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford. To share condolences online please visit www.HopeMemorial.com.
