Eleanor Carter Obituary

Eleanor Genevieve (Saline) Carter, 91
SACO -- Eleanor Genevieve (Saline) Carter passed away on June 12, 2011, in Saco, at the age of 91. She was the widow of Andrew W. Carter, who passed away in 1989, after their marriage of 45 years.
Mrs. Carter was born in Brockton, Mass., and graduated from Brockton High School in 1937. She worked in Boston at the Massachusetts Rating and Inspection Bureau, and following her marriage in 1944 she lived in Brockton with her family.
In 1966 she, her husband, and son Richard moved to Dennis, Mass., where she was active in the Bass River Baptist Church. She was on the Deacon and Finance boards, was President of the Ladies' Society, and sang in the choir as well as in duets with her husband. She was also active in the Cape Cod Christian Women's Club, serving as Chair in 1973 and 1974. She became a member of South Yarmouth United Methodist Church in 2004.
In 2009 Mrs. Carter moved into the Wardwell Home in Saco to be near her son and his family.
She is survived by her son Richard and his wife Nancy of Alfred; and her granddaughter, Selina Carter, currently in graduate school at Syracuse University; as well as by her sister-in-law, June Saline of Harwich, Mass., widow of Eleanor Carter's brother, George Saline.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, at South Yarmouth Methodist Church, 322 Old Main St., with a social hour and buffet to follow. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Dennis at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Questions about memorial arrangements may be made by calling Eleanor's son, Rick Carter: 978-376-0728.
