J. Hill Obituary

J. Bennett Hill, Jr. of Strafford, PA J. Bennett Hill, Jr., 86, died Wed. June 21, 2017, at Paoli Hospital from complications after a fall. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia Gardiner Hill and his daughter Elizabeth Miller Gouveia. Born and raised in Wynnewood, Bennett graduated from The Haverford School in 1948 and from Swarthmore College in 1952 with a BA in Art History. Mr. Hill taught Latin and History for 35 years at The Montgomery School in Wynnewood. While there he directed many plays. When Montgomery moved to Chester Springs, he taught for 5 years at The Wyndcroft School in Pottstown. Bennett is remembered fondly by a multitude of students, many of whom continued to keep in touch with him. He was a member of The Church of The Good Shepherd, Rosemont for over fifty years, and at the time of his death was a founding member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bridgeport, PA. He was active in several local history organizations, including serving as president of the Radnor Historical Society for ten years. He was very active at Historic Waynesborough in Paoli, where he gave tours, sometimes in period clothing. Funeral service on June 29, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bridgeport. Interment at Media Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in his name to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 502 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA 19405 Stuard - Since 1822 Ardmore-Newtown Square
