Stanley Petty Obituary

Stanley L. Petty, 76, a resident Wayne for over 50 years, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at the Hospital of The University of Philadelphia, Pa. Born in Trenton, N.J. on May 25, 1933, he was the son of the late Stanley S. Petty and the late Ethel A. (nee Lambert) Petty. He graduated from Trenton High School and Rutgers University in 1956. Stanley was a member of the TKA fraternity. He received a BS in Civil Engineering at Rutgers. Stanley worked as an Engineer at Philadelphia Electric Company for over 36 years and retired. Mr. Petty was a member of S.T.A.R.R. which is a train organization in Newtown Square. He was a member of Wayne United Methodist Church, Wayne, Pa. Stanley was on the Vestry a trustee of the church and on the Financial committee. Mr. Petty was a longtime volunteer at Bryn Mawr Hospital and won a volunteer service award in 2006 for outstanding service. Stanley also started a group of people at Bryn Mawr Hospital fixing wheel chairs on a volunteer basis in the basement of Bryn Mawr Hospital. Mr. Petty was past president of the Lower Merion Jaycees. He was past president and founder of the Upper Merion parks Historical Society. Stanley was a member of the Optimist Club. Stanley is survived by his wife Doris A. (Cromley) Petty of Wayne, son Keith Petty of Georgia, two daughters Karen L. Bruno of Berwyn, and Gwen A. Puglisi of Wayne. He was also survived by his grandchildren Morgan, Nicholas, Brooke and Andrew. A Memorial Service was held at Wayne United Methodist Church in Wayne at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, with Rev. Joseph DiPaolo officiated. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to Wayne United Methodist Church, 210 S. Wayne Ave., Wayne, PA 19087 or to Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation, 130 S. Bryn Mawr Ave., Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 would be appreciated. Arrangements by Frank C. Videon Funeral Home in Broomall.

STAN:A special friend, an avid minature train follower, a faithful volunteer at Bryn Mawr Hospital, a beloved member of Wayne UMC, a devoted husband and father and grandfather. Stan will be missed by so many and we can rejoice that he is home and healed in the arms of his Lord!
