James "Jimmy" C. Mitchell

MANSFIELD: James "Jimmy" C. Mitchell, 72, of Mansfield passed away January 4, 2012 at Mansfield Memorial Homes.

Jimmy was born April 17, 1939 in Robeson County, NC to Barney and Vera Mitchell. He was a veteran of the United States Army. While Jimmy lived in New York, he worked for nearly 40 years in housekeeping and maintenance at two different hospitals, was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing baseball. He came to Mansfield in 1989 and was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children: Robin (Lee) Tomlin of Mansfield, Maurice Mitchell of New York, , Jackie (Darrell) Monger of Mansfield, Gregory Mitchell of New York; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother John D. Mitchell of Florida; sister Reva (Alvin) Branchcomb of Virginia; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Rosa Lee Mitchell, daughter Roxanne Mitchell, and 7 siblings.

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Sunday from 2 - 5pm. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Hunt officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
