LUCILLE BURNAP Obituary

Lucille (Burnie) Burnap Oct. 26, 1924-Oct. 25, 2010 After a brief illness, Ms. Burnap passed away peacefully - one day short of her 86th birthday - in the company of her longtime friend, Emelie Wilson. Born in Greenfield and raised in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, Ms. Burnap was the daughter of Pearl Noble Burnap and Mary Albina Streeter Burnap. She attended Becker College, Mass., enjoyed a career in the U.S. Air Force, and was a well-respected Medical Management Services Officer for UCSF for 27 years. She is preceded in death by her sisters Pearl Burnap Rand and Ruby Burnap Root and her brothers Floyd (Buster) Burnap and Courtney Burnap. She is survived by her nephews Elmer (Randy) Rand Jr. of San Bruno CA, Edward Root of Zoar, MA, Gary Root of Colrain, MA, David Burnap of Buckland, MA, and John Burnap of Luxembourg, Europe. Her many friends and extended family throughout Marin and Sonoma counties will miss her wry humor and loving nature. She will be remembered for her love, generosity, steadfast friendship to many, and a delightful talent for remembering the music and lyrics to obscure songs. She held a special fondness for all animals, the New England Patriots, and a cold Coke from the bottle. While that twinkle in her eyes will be missed, she leaves us with wonderful enduring memories. A memorial service will be held at Alma Via of San Rafael, 515 Northgate Drive, in Terra Linda at 2:00 PM Friday, Nov. 5, 2010. Donations may be made to the Humane Society of Marin.

I will miss her as she was part of my family and I know she cared about my kids. I am sorry that we lost touch these last few years of her life.

She will always be remembered as one of the family. Burnie was there for my graduations, my wedding, the birth of my daughter, and holidays. Lucky are we to have had her in our lives.
