Francis Daniel "Frank" Murphy Jr.

Francis ("Frank") Daniel Murphy, Jr., M.D. On November 23, 2013, Francis Daniel Murphy, Jr., M.D., passed away peacefully at the age of 82 in Marin County. Born on August 18, 1931, Frank was a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and graduated with Yale University's undergraduate class of 1953 with a degree in English Literature. He went on to receive his medical degree from Marquette University Medical School. He moved from Milwaukee to San Francisco in 1961, where he spent his medical career as an orthopedic surgeon at St. Mary's Hospital. In 1964 he married Mary Ellen Kinslow and they had two children, Greg and Julie. In 1988 he moved to Marin, and had lived in San Anselmo since 1994. He loved fly fishing, sailing on San Francisco Bay, hikes on Mt. Tamalpais, and travels to Big Sur, Britain and France. He relished his close circle of friends, and remained proud of his Midwestern roots. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Madeline Murphy, and his sister, Joan Foley. He is survived by his two children, his daughter-in-law Wendy Murphy, grandchildren Conner and Clara Murphy, and partner for the last 19 years, Patricia Winterson. He also is survived by five dear nieces and a nephew, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
