Alice J. Martins

Alice J. (Kehoe) Martins, 89, passed away peacefully in the company of her family on September 28, 2014. Alice was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on February 14, 1925. She graduated from Douglas Business College and worked for the Atomic Energy Commission before her marriage to Joseph Martins in May of 1951. Alice lived in Ludlow for 52 years where she and Joe raised their four children. She worked for the Ludlow School Department until her retirement. She served on the Town of Ludlow Finance Committee and the Safety Board. She was a long time communicant at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, where she was an active member of the Ladies Guild. Alice moved to Longmeadow in 2008 and lived there for 3 years before she moved to East Longmeadow. Most recently she was a parishioner at St. Michaels Church in East Longmeadow. In addition to her parents, James and Honora Kehoe, she was predeceased by her husband in 1983, and 6 siblings. Alice leaves her children Christopher Martins and his wife Denise of Andover, Catherine Martins of Longmeadow, Mary Neil and her husband Robert of Longmeadow and Elizabeth Martins of Waltham, 6 grandchildren (Catherine, Joseph, Anne, John, Zachary and Jake), a brother John Kehoe and a sister Patricia Long.Alices family wishes to express its deep appreciation to the entire staff at East Village, in East Longmeadow as well as Baystate Hospice of Springfield for their extraordinary care.
