John L. Walp
John L. Walp, 87, of Bethlehem, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 in Cedarbrook Fountain Hill Annex. He and his wife Grace A. (Moser) Walp were married for 64 years last April. Born in Springtown, he was one of six children born to the late Linford and Cora M. (Campbell) Walp. John was a Farmer most of his life, retiring in 1989 after 41 years at Willowbrook Farms in Catasauqua. Later he worked at the food pantry of the Salvation Army. He was a member of the Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church in Bethlehem and a former member of the First Evangelical Congregational Church in Easton. He was involved in church as a Head Usher, President of Mens Bible Class and member of the Quoits club. John received the Melvin Jones Award from the Bethlehem Lions Club for his many years of service. Survivors: Wife; daughter, Susan Fuge, and her husband, Richard, of Houston, TX; sons, David Walp, and his wife, Vicki, of Eldersburg, MD, John Walp, and his wife, Jane, of Lakewood, CO, Perry Walp, and his wife, Myrna, of Allentown, Gerald Walp, and his wife, Okyon, of Shalimar, FL; sister, Mildred Reighn, of Morgan Hill; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Services: Funeral services will be held Friday, October 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church, 75 E. Union Blvd., Bethlehem.
