Maria Mattes Obituary

Mattes, Maria Maria Mattes, 78, of Fountain Hill, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's in Lower Saucon Twp. She was the wife of Erich A. Mattes for 55 years. Born in Slovakia, she was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Rosa (Mortscinek) Montsko. Maria worked as a packer for the former Seiler Meat Co., in Philadelphia for many years, until retiring. She was a member of University Parish of Holy Ghost Church in Bethlehem. She was also a member of St. Bernards Beneficial Society. Survivors: In addition to her loving husband Erich; sons Richard and his wife Weihung and thier child Zefeng of Salisbury Twp., and Philip and his wife Kathy of Richmond, VA; daughter Marlene Mattes of Fountain Hill; grandchildren Claire and Sophie; siblings Ludwig, Siegfried, Gertrud and Friedrich all of Germany. Services: 10am Friday May 9, 2014 a Memorial Mass will be held at University Parish of Holy Ghost, 417 Carlton Ave. Bethlehem, followed by the burial at Fountain Hill Cemetery. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, to the church. Maria's arrangements are entrusted to Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill. Online condolences at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com
