Ruth Spivey Obituary

Ruth M. Spivey, age 96, of Bethlehem, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Richard Simons who passed in 1968 and the late Ralph Spivey who passed in 1996. Born in Philadelphia, Ruth was the daughter of the late Finley Moore and Christine Nielson. Ruth was a member of the Church of The Nazarene where she sang in the church choirs, taught adult and children's Sunday school. She was the President of the Missionary Society and Director of the Vacation Bible School. She worked in healthcare for number of years including in the Lehigh Valley Hospital in the Emergency Room Department. She also managed the office for the doctors of the Baltimore Orioles. Survivors: Ruth is survived by her Daughters; Glenna R. Dunham, with husband Duane of Bethlehem, PA and Sharon J. Buxton, with husband Donald of Franklin, TN and son; Dr. Richard J. Simons Jr., with wife Kathryn of Hummelstown, PA. In addition to her children, she is survived by 7 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is preceded in death by five siblings. Services: A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 7th at 11am at First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, 2344 Center St. Bethlehem, PA 18017. Burial will be private. Arrangements under the direction of Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem, PA. A memorial tribute may be made online at www.longfuneralhome.com Contributions: In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Hospice, Development Office, 801 Ostrum St. Bethlehem PA 18015.
