NORMAN VIERRA Obituary
Norman R. Vierra was born to the late Al and Elva (Adams) Putnam in San Diego, California and he passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Merced, California at the age of 77.
Norman loved traveling around our beautiful America and he also visited most of the world. He loved playing golf and the new friends he met. Norman loved his family, they were his first love. His family will miss him more than he can ever imagine.
Norman married the love of his life June Vierra on August 2, 1969 and this union brought together a blended family of seven.
Norman was preceded in death by his loving son Michael Butler.
Norman is survived by his loving wife Mrs. June Vierra, his children: Joe Vierra (Jeri), Danelle Williams Vierra (Richard), Jean Vierra, Tim Vierra, Tony Butler and Patrick Butler (Dawn). Also surviving are his grandchildren: Wayne Butler (Sabrina), Sabrina Butler (Jermia), Brian Butler, Keith Butler, Nathan Williams, Mark Butler, Eric Butler, Michelle Butler, Dana Williams, Taylor Butler, Christine Smith and his great-grandchildren: Kevin, Dysten, Aaron, Kara, Michael, Jason, Maddy, Aiden and Eli.
A public visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Merced. The funeral service will start at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 12, 2010 also in the Chapel of Ivers & Alcorn Home with burial to follow at the Merced District Cemetery in Merced, California.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Norman's Name.
All funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home located at 901 West Main Street in Merced, California or you may contact us at 1-209-722-6201.

June, just wanted to let you know that we will miss norm very much. He was truly one of our most favorite patients. The courage he had inspires us all. We will miss hearing about how he would sneek the ice cream and other goodies for his midnight snacks. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Norm will always be in my memories, mainly in his bathing suit!!! He was such a nice gentleman and it he was especially important to me in the fact that he was a "buddy" of my uncle Jack! Norm was bigger than life and was always a joy to be around. We are blessed to have such wonderful memories. I am overjoyed that my aunt June and Norm found each other and had great times together. We miss you Uncle Norm - Love you Aunt June!!!

Please know that you and Norm hold a special place in my heart. Norm is a huge part of all my wonderful memories growing up on the houseboats at Lake McClure. I loved his jolly laugh and smiling face. He was always there to help, talk, entertain, and haul us kids around. Truly epic.

It sadden us to hear of Norm's passing. It has been years since we have seen you, but we think of you often and miss the great times we had together. The Lord has taken a great guy and we will miss him as much as we miss you guys.

June and Family,
My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Norm was like a 2nd Dad to me and many others that had the pleasure of growing up with him on Lake McClure, and then in my adult life when he became my cousin John's "Wingman" with helping to organize our "Family and Friends Slot Reunions" in Reno. He was a big man with a much bigger heart and smile, many of us knew him as "Tail-Feathers" or "Stormin Norman." He had a laugh that was not only loud but infectious and a Cannonball that could soak you no matter where you tried to hide. I have so Many GREAT memories of being around Norm (Too many to list here) but you all know most of them. He will truly be missed.
Know that he is in a better place now made whole again and you all will be united with him once more in Heaven.
