Allen Olin Yandell, a resident of Mariposa for 20 years, passed away on September 14, 2010 of heart complications at Doctor's Hospital in Modesto, with his wife Dorothy at his side. He enjoyed teaching high school in the Hayward Unified School District for 35 years. He enjoyed his students and took them on many trips i.e. bicycling across the Golden Gate Bridge and skiing in Yosemite. He had many fond memories of those days.

He met his wife, Dorothy Jean, in church and they attended college together. They were married on June 23, 1962 and were married for 48 years and enjoyed their life together.

Allen enjoyed many activities like camping, flying, skiing, hiking, ballroom dancing and motorcycling. He loved riding his motorcycle for many years to Yosemite National Park. Allen enjoyed helping others and he loved nature and animals. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and fixing things.

Allen was a member of the BMW of Northern California and the Audubon Society. He enjoyed watching birds. He also attended the Baptist Church during his lifetime. Allen was a "Tool" man and could build and fix nearly everything.

Dear Dorothy. We are so very sorry for your great loss. I have many wonderfull memories of our ski trips to the Sierras when my three kids were young, and all our motorcycle trips together. Was great to see that you retired to Mariposa...a beautiful place. We lived in Minden, NV for 7 years after we left San Jose, but wanted to travel, so bought a diesel pusher and are enjoying seeing our wonderful country. Please accept our deepest condolences. We will always remember Allen and his wonderful smile and sweet disposition. Much love. Patti and Jim Timm

A very nice fellow and I'm sad to hear that he has left us. I met him through the BMW Club of Northern California a few years ago and enjoyed shop talk with Allen.

I will always remember the adventurous spirit in constant display by Allen,.... a wonderful companion to ride with. I will never forget the back road adventure into Yosemite with my brand new 1977 R100RS riding on narrow hiking trails. Allen was more worried about me crashing my new bike than I was. We almost lost Allen down a waterfall when rubbernecking at the skinny dippers. "All this to avoid a park entrance fee."
Dorothy...my deepest condolences. We are all better for having had Allen in our lives.
Allen,.....Rest in peace my friend.
