Resident of San Jose
Eloy was born in Mercedes, Texas and spent his childhood and early adult life in Weslaco, Texas. Eloy proudly served in the US Army during the Cold War Era and was called to action during the Cuban Missile crisis. Eloy met the love of his life Rosa Trevino and were married in 1964. Eloy and Rosa had 2 children, Nora and Xavier. They came to San Jose in 1965 where they would raise their family and where he would find employment with the Ford Motor Company and where he began his union, social justice and Chicano activism as an officer and organizer with the UAW, Local 560. He spent many of those years organizing with Cesar E. Chavez and the UFW. Eloy retired from Ford with 30 years of service at the San Jose Assembly Plant (Milpitas) and the Twin Cities Assembly Plant (Minnesota). Eloy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rosa T. Campos, Daughter Nora Campos, Son Xavier Campos, Grandson Jack Campos Struthers, Son-in-law Neil Struthers; Brothers: Gilberto Campos, Noel Campos, Eliazar Campos, Daniel Campos; Sisters: Minerva Hernandez, Belia Serna and Martha Campos and many nieces and nephews. His loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends and family are invited to a visitation at 5PM followed by a rosary at 7PM on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Darling Fischer Mortuary 471 E. Santa Clara Street, San Jose CA, and Funeral Mass, Friday May 1, 2015 at 11AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 2020 East San Antonio Street, San Jose CA, 95116 followed by burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 2665 Madden Ave. San Jose CA 95116
