William Joseph Vitek

March 15, 1927- Dec. 29, 2010

Resident of Saratoga

Beloved husband and father Bill Vitek passed away peacefully on Dec. 29, 2010. He led a long wonderful life and was happiest when celebrating at dinner in his Saratoga home with his wife, children, family and friends. Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, Bill joined the Navy after high school, graduated from Johns Hopkins University and began his career in electrical engineering. He spent 45 years working for Westinghouse, IBM, Xerox, Control Data and Renewable Energy.

Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Jo Vitek; son, Glenn Vitek (Ellen) of Mission Viejo; Daughters, Susan Kranich of San Jose, Patricia Phillips (Gary) of San Anselmo, Jacqui Naylor (Art Khu) of San Francisco and Barbara Olsthoorn of Boca Raton, FL; grandchildren, Katie Koch, Mary Rath, Joseph Vitek, Glenn, Allison and Bradley Kranich, James and Natalie Phillips and Bob, Luc and Lily Olsthoorn and 6 great-grandchildren; his brother Edgar Vitek of Columbus, OH and sister, Dolores Petr of Falston, MD. Two daughters, Cheryl and Deborah and his brothers Stanley and Joseph preceded him in death.

Friends are invited to the vigil service on Wed., 1/5/11at 7 p.m. and the funeral mass on 1/6/11at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church 13716 Saratoga Ave. Saratoga.
