Margaret Sawyer Obituary
Margaret "Peggy" Brickett Sawyer (Hosmer) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her "begats" May 30, 2013 in Dover, NH. She was born in Newton, MA on November 24, 1925 to Arthur Abram and Bessie (English) Brickett. She grew up in Auburndale, MA., graduating from Newton High School. She graduated from Lasell College, and New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing with her RN. Peg married Harvey G. Sawyer on May 1, 1948. They settled on Bacon Street in Natick, MA. and raised a family of four children. She worked as a visiting nurse while attending Boston University School of Nursing part-time, receiving her BS degree in Nursing, followed by her MS in Public Health. She then became an Associate Professor at the BU School of Nursing. After Harv's death in 1998, Peg moved to Dover to be closer to family. She reconnected with a childhood friend, John Hosmer, and they were married in 2000, moving to his home in Connecticut. Upon his death she returned to Dover and became active in the Active Retirement Association and becoming a member of The Portsmouth Garden Club. Peg spent all her summers, right through 2012 in Vermont at the family camp on Joe's Pond. Peg was pre-deceased by an infant daughter Judith, her parents, brothers Arthur (Estelle), Charley (Pearley) and John (Barbara) Brickett, and her sister Isabel (Howard) Fowle. She was also pre-deceased by her beloved husband Harvey, and second husband and friend John Hosmer. She leaves behind her "begats": son David Sawyer of Worcester, MA, her "special daughter" Patricia and children Craig Sawyer and Alicia (Greg) Klocek and sons Rudy and Austin; daughter Susan (Sanborn) Vaillancourt and husband John of Lyndonville, VT, and son Wesley Sanborn and his fiance Elizabeth MacKenzie; daughter Lynda (McGowan) Poole and her children Amanda (Justin) Marone and son Cade, Asa (Sandra) McGowan and daughter Meeka, daughter Samantha (John) Pinkard and daughters Carlie and Ellalynn; son Mark (Pam) Sawyer of Henniker, NH and their children Christopher, Matthew (Emily), Megan and fiance John Godfrey and Benjamin. She also leaves loving cousins, nieces and nephews that brightened Peg's world right to the end. A memorial service was held at the Vermont Veteran's Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT on June 14, 2013.
