M. Munro Obituary

M. Vance Munro, age 77, died Monday, July 5, 2016 in Boston after a long illness. Raised in Natick and Oak Bluffs, he spent summer cooking at the family restaurant on Marthas Vineyard: Munros Boston House. He was class of 1956 at Tabor Academy in Marion, attending on an Island Boy scholarship. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton University in 1960, with an A.B., in International Affairs. He earned his Law degree from Harvard University in 1963. The same year, he joined a Boston firm later known as Gaston Snow & Ely Bartlett. He practiced corporate law, retiring as a senior partner in 1990. Between 1975 and 2002, he served as a trustee at Tabor. He enjoyed antiques, travel, cribbage, scrabble, and preparing traditional New England cuisine with his family and friends. He leaves his fiance, Louise Savary of Framingham; his daughter, Heidi M. Wood and her husband Jonathon of Arlington, VA; his daughter, Elisabeth M. Ledwell and her husband Patrick of Falmouth, MA; his daughter, Heather Munro of Louisville, CO; and eight grandchildren: Lukas, Logan, Sasha, Gia, Aidan, Patrick, Meredith and Nathan. He was predeceased by his parents George L. Munro, Sr. and Florence E. (Murphy) Munro, and his brother George L. Larry Munro, Jr. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., Framingham. A memorial service will be held on August 4, 2016 at the Plymouth Church, 87 Edgell Road, Framingham, at 11AM. Burial will be private.
