MIDDLESBORO — Roscoe Gibson, Jr. (Junior) age 71, of Middlesboro, passed away Monday, February 03, 2014 at his home. He was born May 19, 1942 in Garmeda, Ky. He was the son of the late Roscoe Gibson Sr. and Bertha Johnson Gibson, He also was preceded in death by 5 brothers , Kenneth Gibson, Ira Lee Gibson, Charles Gibson, Jack Gibson, Jimmy Gibson,One sister, Hazel Wilson, and a late daughter-in-law, Bobbie Jo Gibson Bullins.
Roscoe worked as a carpenter making beautiful cabinets and at Giles Industries for 43 years. He passed his knowledge of carpentry to his son Alvin and son-in-law Dexter Mason. He also considered the Giles family and employees as his family, they are so many people who he cared about we cannot list all but know he cared about all of you.
He is survived by his wife; Larraine Baker Gibson whom he married on November 26, 1960 who was the love of his life for over 53 years, and who he called "his sugar", His aunt Creasy Bell Webb, his Daughter, Nancy and husband Dexter Mason, son Alvin Lee and wife Cindi . He will be remembered and missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Dexter Roscoe (Ross) Mason and daughter Sophia, Steven and wife India Mason with Papaw's girls Nicole and Mckenzie Mason, Bobbie Lee Gibson and son and daughter Conner and Bailey, papaw's girl Jessica Gibson who always made his smile. He is also survived by Dexter and Nancy's son Samuel who he called 'the berries'. Nieces and nephews Gary Wayne, Lisa, Mitchell , Scottie, Tammy, John-John, Diana, Missy, Debbie, and Mike who he loved dearly, Special Sister-In-Law Jewell (Baker Burchfield) Brown and her daughter Kathy Maxwell who loved him like her own father, and Fran Gibson, Jack's wife who always loved Roscoe like a brother.
Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday February 6,2014 at the Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Warwick, the family will receive friends from 5-7 Thursday at Shumate Funeral Home, Graveside service will be Friday February 7,2014 at 2 p.m.at the Head Cemetery in Chenoa, KY.
