Joseph Homer "Alex" Alexander Jr.

ALEXANDER Joseph Homer "Alex" Alexander, Jr. - an 89 year-old native of Fairfield, AL and longtime resident of Theodore passed away Monday, September 3, 2012. Mr. Alexander was the former owner/operator of Alexander Radio & Television and Alexander Hardware. He was a graduate of Theodore High School. Mr. Alexander, a licensed pilot, was a member of the New Orleans chapter of the Quiet Birdmen of America. He also enjoyed boating and was a longtime member of the Mobile Chapter of the Power Squadron, later becoming the Commander of the Singing River, MS chapter. Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille "Granny" Smith; first wife, Dorothy Louise Pecoul Alexander; second wife, Edie Alexander; and brother, Donald Joseph Alexander. He is survived by his children, Joseph H. Alexander, III, Tony Alexander (Margaret), Mike Alexander, and Patricia Abercrombie; brother, Shelton C. Alexander (Gertrude); 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, September 6, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. A parlor service will be held at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 900 Western America Cir., Ste. 101, Mobile, AL 36609 or to your favorite charity.
