LEON OBENHAUS Obituary

OBENHAUS, Col. Leon Eugene, USMC Ret, age 75, aresident of Montgomery,peacefully departed this lifeon Saturday, April 10, 2010.He fought a good fight, butwas ready for his heavenlyhome. He was preceded indeath by his parents, LeonMillard Obenhaus and CallieHobbs Obenhaus of Victoria,TX. He is survived by his wifeof 52 years, Carolyn ArnoldObenhaus; children, KatieBoyd of Crofton, MD, Kellyand Mike Ulven of Atlanta,GA and Leon Christopher andSuzie Obenhaus of Montgomery; eight grandchildren, Sophie and Grace Boyd, Kadie,Charlie, Callie and Cole Ulven, Christopher and BabyJack Obenhaus; sister, PeggyRyan and brother, Douglas(Jerrel) Obenhaus of Victoria,TX; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends;special caregivers, KendraHolliday, DelCelia Sellers, Bernice Wilson and Tymesa Wilson. Col. Obenhaus served adistinguished career of 28years in the United States Marine Corps with numerousduty assignments, includingViet Nam. Upon retirement,he continued to be active asa local commercial real estate broker. He was a deaconand devoted member ofRidgecrest Baptist Churchwhere he gladly served wherever he was needed. Theworld is a better place because he lived and he will bemissed greatly. Funeral services will be held at RidgecrestBaptist Church on Tuesday,April 13, at 1:30 p.m., with Dr.Michael Cassity officiating.Visitation will be from 12:00 -1:30 at the church. Burial willfollow at Alabama HeritageCemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be The Tony Lisenby Sunday School Class.Flowers will be welcomed,but memorials may also bemade to Ridgecrest BaptistChurch Help for Hurting Humanity Fund.
