I met Daniel at the YMCA when looking for a personal trainor. His knowledge, generosity and passion combined with his quiet sense of humour always made our encounters special. All who met him will remember, I am sure, a truly caring and unique human being. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Daniel was a wonderful fitness instructor and advocate for health for everyone-young, old, and the sick. I truly enjoyed the opportunity to know him and to profit from his knowledge in exercise physiology which was incredible.
I am deeply saddened to hear of his death. I will miss him.
Sincerely,
Indra Gupta

Daniel and I first met at the Y.M.H.A years ago before he became a professional trainer. We would have conversations in the locker room and I was so impressed with his knowledge and intellect. I always considered it a special treat when we would meet at the gym as I knew that on almost every occasion we would have a stimulating conversation and I would learn something new from him.
He was a very special man and a kind and gentle soul. I know that he will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

I knew Daniel quite well back in the 60s when we met over the chessboard at a number of tournaments, he usually emerged victorious! He had a strong sense of right and wrong and I remember an incident in one game when he had the better position when his time ran out as he was making his last move before time control. Confusion arose as it was not noticed at first until a couple of more moves were played and I offered to play on in my weaker position, but he insisted on resigning on the spot; though in his early 20s he had already developed a strong set of principles!

When a good person dies -- as Daniel was -- then the rest of us are certainly diminished.

So saddened to learn of Daniel's passing. He and I were good friends in the late 60's and early 70's. We both attended High School of Montreal and Concordia together. Often enjoyed games of billards and ski trips. We drifted apart after I left Montreal - we should have tried to reconnect. Condolences to Virginie and family.

You left us too early my friend. We spoke only 3 weeks ago. You were my fitness mentor and I shared with you my decision to follow in your footsteps and live what I love. You were an inspiration to me. I will miss our long chats about a number of things. I loved your openess about the world and being human and wish for peace in the Middle East. Rest in peace Mr. Fischer. Hope you hear my prayers.

I am in the exercise class for cancer survivors that Daniel coached. I will miss Daniel so much. He was a great coach. I always appreciated his enthusiasm for exercise and how earnest he was when explaining each move. It made me smile when he would doggedly follow me around the room to correct my moves. He was relentless in a good way! He was always there for us cancer survivors taking an interest in our lives and health. Classes just won't be the same without him. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences. Sincerely, Wendy
