To Laura and Karen, I am sad and sorry to learn of your dear mom's death. I have never met you but your mom was always talk about you. I got to know your mom when I was a graduate student at Mcgill from 1990 to 1992.Your mom was like a second mother to me.She took me under her wing, supervised my dissertation and allowed me yo stay at her house when I had nowhere to go.i am crying as I am writing this because I had a chance of seeing her again when I visited Montreal in 2012. I phoned her the minute I arrived and we arranged to meet. I could not wait to see her again after all these time. I missed her message where she had asked me to drop in for tea at her house but I only got the message two days later and when I finally got back to her she told me she was too sick to see me.i came back to South Africa without seeing her and have never gotten over the fact that I could not see her. I hoped that next time I visit Montreal I will make sure I see her.Now it is certain that I will never ever see her again.I am so sad but I hope she is in at good place now and may her soul rest in peace.

My sincere condolences, Laura and Karen. Besides knowing your mom as an inspiring social work teacher, social activist, and feminist role model, my memories of her are of her playing her viola in the chamber music group every week in our living room.

So sorry to hear about your Mom,Karen. As
a young social work student at McGill I was
in awe of her as a teacher - she was honest, committed and a fierce advocate of
the most vulnerable. Our paths crossed again thirty years later when we both sat on the Board of the NDG Seniors Centre. She was still feisty, direct and focused - a true force of nature and still a huge inspiration to me.
We connected a third time over her concern
for the animals that she was caring for outside.
I`m so grateful to have known her.

Liesel was a wonderful inspiration to us at Contactivity Centre. She was so bright, so engaged and so steadfast in her commitment to social justice. Our sincerest condolences to her devoted and talented family.

I was very sorry to hear of Liesel's death, though I knew she had been ill. I valued her highly as a colleague at the McGill School of Social Work, and I akso remember with pleasure many conversations we had about music.
