'Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.' Matthew 5:4
I just learned of Dan's passing through the Baldwin-Wallace newsletter. Dan worked with me at the radio station. He always had a joyful spirit about him. I pray that as time passes, you will find comfort in his memories. My condolences to the Vovak Family.

I just saw the news. Very sad. I first met Daniel when he started his campaign for president on my website. It began a interesting email/phone driven friendship. I had him on my radio show down here in Florida before he went up to Illinois for the race. He was living a daring and exciting life. I am sure at times his family was a little worried, but I saw the adventure in his eyes when he contemplated his actions. Many are given a silver spoon, he was not. He lived in his car and campaigned. He was a self made man, still in his process, and I wonder where he would have gone with his life in later years. As a historian I must say Daniel will also hold a unique and wonderful place in the 2004-2011 political years. A real American character. A real American writer. I am sad his story has ended. I give my heart to his family and friends. I will miss him running campaigns on my site. The occasional phone call when he was hatching a new plan. Good luck Daniel, I know somewhere in heaven you are wearing that wig and running for saint, living on your own cloud, and making the afterlife more interesting for everyone. rest in peace my friend

I knew him through a cinema lounge discussion group he led. He was very sociable and had an ease with which he spoke to strangers and friends alike. I was most impressed with the way he dealt with people who were socially awkward (film enthusiasts can be antisocial) and made them feel like welcome members of the group.

Daniel was a vibrant, loving, inquisitive, and very creative young man who magnificently led the DCFS Cinema Lounge. He has left us much too early in his life and I'll miss him very much. My deepest sympathy to his family.

I met Daniel through the DC Film Society. I then went on to work as a writer's assistant to him and contributed to the "Blue Dress" Screenplay that he and Dave Clark wrote. I will always remember Daniel's quirky spirit and humor. He was truly an individual. He had a thirst for knowledge and his charisma was something to behold. I will miss the conversations and lovely meals we shared at his home with his girlfriend Alison. You will be missed my friend. My condolences to the Vovak Family.

I will always remember Dan as a vivacious student who was full fo zest and zeal. Every day he arrived in German class ready to learn something new. Dan always seemed to have a positive outlook on everything. He always made teaching German a joy for me. I am truly saddened to hear of his passing and of your loss. Please accept my deepest sympathies and my condolences.

I knew Daniel for such a short time. But I did laugh at his jokes! I was impressed by his knowledge of film.

The thing for me at this sad time is recalling how Daniel lived. Speaking as another member of the DC Film Society Cinema Lounge, I think of not just the many things he himself did for our group. I also remember how he got other people involved, even if they weren't initially interested. That kind of enthusiasm is what I will miss most of all. My condolences to his family during this time.
