Jack Claycomb Obituary

Jack Williams Claycomb Sr.
CHAMPION, Pa. - Jack Williams Claycomb Sr., of Champion, Pa. passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 after a brief illness.
He was born in Elyria, Ohio, December 10, 1938 to Harry and Ruth (Williams) Claycomb. Jack was an Elyria High School graduate and served in the National Guard. He continued to reside and work in Elyria in masonry.
Jack worked on local projects such as laying the fire brick in the Steel Mills, Church of the Open Door, JVS and many others. He then moved to Champion, Pa. in the early 80's. He was a member of the American Legion and was also active in the Amvets and the VFW. Jack continued to use his skill and trade in building several chalets near Seven Springs. Jack enjoyed the outdoor life here from skiing, walking, bear watching, and storytelling!! The door to his chalet was always open to family, friends, and to the select stray dog or cat who then became permanent residents.
Jack is survived by his children Jack Claycomb Jr. (Laura), Jim Claycomb, and Julie Claycomb and grandchildren Sarah, Christopher, and Noelle, sisters Nancy (Bob) Jones and Carole (David) Disbrow, longtime companion Wanda Yeager.
He was preceded in death by his sister Linda, father Harry, mother Ruth, and Ziggy Guy Walski Junior his beloved dog.
Although his 74 years here were not quite enough, he will live on in memory and spirit as a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend. May he rest in peace.
Private memorial service to be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion of Donegal 3812 Rt. 31 Donegal, PA 15628.

The Claycomb Chalets are still beautiful in the snow but will never be the same without our friend Jack. Thanks for making the place so wonderful, always taking care of everything when I was away and the visits to Las Vegas. We miss you pal but will always remember your great spirit and humor.

I will truly miss the stories by the fire, having "a light one" with Jack. Winters in the mountais will never be the same. We'll miss our buddy.

I will always remember Jack for his good nature, generosity, open door and unconditional acceptance of others. And he certainly had the ability to make everyone laugh!
